RB1034X-Chinese Antique Scholar's Cabinet, Small, circa 1800, Shanxi Province China, Cedar (Nanmu), Review

Antique Chinese Scholars Cabinet (Chinese Antique Scholar's Cabinet, Small). Antique Chinese small scholar's cabinet from the Shanxi region in Northern, China is a scaled replica of a its larger armoire sibling. It has a overhanging top, rounded "noodle" sides, doors on wooden pin hinges, simple apron and original brass door medallion. Inside features a drawer in the center with storage above and below.

This type of cabinet would have been used to store a scholar's artifacts-pens, ink, writing paper, paints, etc. Today it can be placed on top of a dresser of chest of drawers and used to store jewelry and other treasures or can be used as art. While showing wear and tear in its current condition, the small cabinet can be repaired. Lovely brown patina.

While the cabinet would be best presented with its mate, each cabinet can be sold separately. Price listed is for each cabinet. Antique Asian Furniture: Chinese Antique Scholar's Cabinet, Small from Shanxi Province, China. Read more...
